The Thornton Mysteries #4

Another thoroughly enjoyable read in this series and this time we are on Norfolk Island and there is a lot of history to learn about while Alexandra solves another mystery, there is no stopping her once she gets a clue she is like a true mystery sleuth.

A surprise birthday present for Lexie is a trip to Norfolk Island and an expedition to research and save the Green Parrot and other endangered species on the beautiful island as photographer, she is thrilled and she is also given a beautiful Black Pearl broach the origins of the pearl are from Tahiti but hers was bought in Hong Kong by her Great, Great Grandfather and is a family heirloom.

Just as they are leaving they find out that the island has just had its first murder this of course intrigues Lexi and she has lots of questions. Her and Edie are also researching the island and discover that a lot of the inhabitants are descendants of the Bounty Mutineers and their Tahitian Brides, this is going to be a very interesting trip.

Meeting the people who live there is an eye opener as they all seem to have strange nick names and Lexi’s black pearl broach courses a bit of a stir when she wears it, of course Lexi is asking lots of questions about the murder and discovers that there was another sudden death and when tensions flare between workers from the expedition and a couple of the workers on the island, Lexi is after the truth and soon there are another couple of deaths, and Lexi puts herself in danger to get to the bottom of the mystery.

There is a lot going on in this story and lots of interesting history to learn along the way and of course I loved catching up with Edie, Benedict and Thomas they all add so much to the story and the people of Norfolk Island were a fabulous characters that I really enjoyed getting to now.

I do highly recommend this story I loved the setting and the era and of course the mystery that had me turning the pages and guessing to the very end.
