Another wonderful story in this series, we are back with super sleuth Alexandra and her family as they take a trip to The Barossa Valley, Alexandra is determined to get to the bottom of why her husband, Benedict’s family had pushed him away after the war, Alexandra dearly wants Benedict to reconnect with his family.
Can the murder of a German man on board a ship to Melbourne be linked to a strange Prussian Count who arrives in the Thornton Antique shop looking for a rare stamp and who seems to arrive in South Australia at the same time as the Thornton family what mystery is going on here?
The first visit to Benedict’s family vineyard is extremely stressful and filled with tension, talk turns to amber and a mysterious missing opal and the tension rises with most of the family, Alexandra does not believe in coincidence. Another young German man is murdered in a small town and Alexandra heightens her sleuthing abilities, she is so stubborn.
I thoroughly enjoyed this instalment, filled with danger and tension as Alexandra uncovers more than she thought with an old family secret coming out, people’s emotions run high as I was turning the pages to uncover the truth of the mystery, I am really enjoying this series I do love the 1920’s and all of the glamour that goes with this era, a well written story that is sure to keep any amateur sleuth guessing.
